RADARGARUT – AD (39), the alleged perpetrator of the theft of a four-wheeled motorized vehicle in Pangandaran Regency was arrested by the Garut Resort Police. Previously he was arrested by residents who knew the alleged perpetrator used a stolen car from social media.
Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Deni Nurcahyadi, said that initially, AD was secured by residents. “When he was arrested, he was using a car that was allegedly stolen in the Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency,” he said Thursday (19/1).
The arrest of AD, explained Deni, started when a resident saw a post on social media that said he was looking for a car with a certain license plate. When the resident was hanging out on the side of the Banjarwangi-Singajaya road, he saw a vehicle with the same number plate he saw on social media heading towards Singajaya District, Garut Regency, West Java.

“The resident then communicated with the owner of the social media account that posted and stated that his vehicle was stolen. After that, the resident asked for help from other residents to chase the vehicle,” he explained.
After attempts at pursuit were carried out, the four-wheeled motorized vehicle was finally overtaken and secured by residents in the Singajaya District area, to be precise on Surapati, Cigintung.
“The local village head informed the police about the incident. AD was finally taken to the local police station for further examination,” he said.
Based on the information gathered, the car was found to have been stolen by the alleged perpetrator on Sunday (15/1), afternoon, in the Parigi District area, Pangandaran Regency. The identity on the vehicle registration certificate belongs to a resident of Cimerak District, Pangandaran Regency.
After securing the suspected perpetrator, the Garut resort police immediately coordinated with the Pangandaran police. AD has now been brought in by a team from the Pangandaran Police for further investigation. (red)
